Throughout my years of teaching golf, I have found
one common
denominator with my students – they all
want to get
better. The main reason for lack of improvement is what the golfer doesn't do after a lesson. I see this time and time again -
students taking a lesson and leaving excited
about what
they changed and how that change felt.
Then
they come out to work on their game, fail to reproduce
the feel they had during the lesson and get
frustrated because they are not getting the results. There should be a purpose to your practice. Hitting balls without a goal in mind will produce no results. To make the change you must first feel the change and then
keep repeating that feel. In doing so, the learning process is quicker
and the results start to come at a faster pace.
Once you get into the “MEGSA
Perfect Practice Equipment” you cannot do anything
but improve. When you are in a closed skilled environment,
with every swing you will start to ingrain the feel you
need and, best of all, recreate that feel over and over again.
“Good Fundamentals Never
Go Out of Style”
What you do before you start the club back from the ball
will determine to a large degree how you swing the club
and the final result. I am referring to your setup or
how you address the golf ball. There are four things you
should master. I call them your
“GAPS.”
Grip - Alignment - Posture - Swing Balance.
If you can close the “GAPS” you will see a large improvement in your game. And
wouldn’t you agree golf is a lot more fun when that
little white ball listens to you? Is this your favorite line? - “I love to play golf, but I am so inconsistent.“ The inconsistency in your ball flight might be
caused by how you address the golf ball. Most shots are missed before
the club is pulled away from the ball.
Remember: A good grip and setup does not guarantee
anything…..it only allows for “GREAT”
things to happen.
Do any of these sound familiar?
• Slice your driver
• All your shots go to the right
• You can't get the ball into the air
• You can't hit your woods off the fairway
• You keep hitting the ground before the ball
| • You hit your short irons fine, but not your
long irons or woods |
• All your clubs seem to go the same distance
• You can hit off a tee, but not off the fairway
If you are doing one or more of the above, then MEGSA can help you. Register for a free video analysis, so we can assess your swing and get you on the way to
better golf. Just send me an email and give me a little
information about yourself so we can set up your
analysis.
